Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will miss the first two One Day Internationals (ODIs) against England, as announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Bumrah has been advised to rest and manage his workload, with plans for him to rejoin the squad for the final ODI scheduled on February 12 in Ahmedabad.

In Bumrah’s absence, emerging pacer Harshit Rana has been called up to the squad. Rana has shown promise in domestic cricket and is expected to bolster India’s pace attack alongside experienced bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The selection committee’s decision to rest Bumrah aligns with the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) broader strategy to manage player workloads, especially with significant tournaments on the horizon. Ensuring key players remain fit and available for crucial matches is a priority for the team management.

India’s ODI series against England comprises three matches, with the first two games taking place on February 6 and 9, followed by the final match on February 12. The series serves as vital preparation for both teams ahead of the upcoming ICC events.
